I've been going to the Game Developers Conference (http://www.gdconf.com) since 1995, lecturing there since 1996, and I've been on the Advisory Board since 1997 or 1998, I think.
I loved attending the conference back then, and I love it now, even though it's changed a lot as the industry has grown.
